IK Multimedia has released SampleTank 2 Free, a functional plug-in that will be complemented by a series of free lessons and free sounds each month.

SampleTank 2 Free is a fully working version of SampleTank 2 with these simple limitations:

  • It opens only a limited selection of sounds made just for the Free version
  • Import function has been disabled
  • Only one instance is available
  • No user presets

SampleTank 2 has 32 DSP effects built-in, with up to 5 effects per instrument channel supported. Included are effects from the company's AmpliTube and T-Racks plug-ins, plus 12-stage phasers, flangers, chorus, delay, reverb, rotary, tremolo.

SampleTank 2 Free is available for MacOS 9, Mac OS X and Windows XP, supporting VSTi, DXi, RTAS, MAS and Audio Units all from the same box.
